Author Guidelines

International journal of medical science adheres Best Practice Guidelines, Publication Ethics, and Code of Conduct recommended by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

Author(s) should carefully read author guidelines and amend those guidelines during article development. Corresponding author and co-authors should ensure the fulfilment of author guidelines before submission to the journal.

1. The work should be original and high quality, not previously published or communicated to any other online or offline platform.

2. Manuscripts should be written in English language with sound grammar and proper medical terminology.

3.Plagiarism or Similarity

As plagiarism is globally considered as an unethical act, therefore author(s) should be careful about similarity Index before submission to the journal. IJMSCI allows similarity Index up to 20% including references. The journal prefers leading plagiarism checking tools that are recognized globally for accuracy and precision (Examples-i-thenticate, Turnitin, Drillbit etc).

4.Authorship criteria

Authorship claim is justified for significant contributions in the work like conception, design, execution, or data interpretation in the reported study. All significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the research paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

5.Concurrent submission

Article found published elsewhere, or to be under review elsewhere, will be treated as duplicate submission or Concurrent submission. In such case, journal authority may cancel the submission immediately. Moreover, action can be taken for the submission due to unethical publishing behavior. If authors use their own previously published article, or article currently under review, as the basis for a submitted article, they are required to cite the previous work and indicate how their submitted article offers novel contributions beyond those of the previous work.

6.Permissions

Figures, tables, or text contents that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s). Author(s) should submit the permission grant documents in printed and online format to the editorial office during submission of the article.

7.Acknowledgement

The work of others must be acknowledged with proper citation or quotation. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work. Information obtained privately, as in conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit, written permission from the source. Information obtained in the course of confidential services, such as refereeing manuscripts or grant applications, must not be used without the written permission of the author (originator) of the work involved. The physical copy of the permission letter should submit to the journal official address and online copy to the editorial mail id (editor@ijmsci.org)

8.Conflicts of interest

During the review process, the following relationships between reviewer(s)/editor(s) and author(s) are considered conflicts of interest: Colleagues currently working in the same research group or department, recent co-authors, and doctoral students for which reviewer/editor served as committee chair. During the submission process, the authors are kindly advised to identify possible conflicts of interest with the journal reviewers and editors.

9.Human and Animal Rights Policy

The ethical standards in medical and pharmacological studies are based on the Helsinki declaration (1964, amended in 1975, 1983, 1989, 1996, 2000 and 2013) of the World Medical Association and the Publication Ethics Policies for Medical Journals of the World Association of Medical Journals (WAME).

10.Paper Submission process

Authors are invited to submit full text papers in MS word format including abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, result description, tables, figures and references. We encourage authors for online submission. In case of difficulties, author(s) may submit article to: editor@ijmsci.org

11.Reviewer Suggestion

Author(s) can suggest maximum two potential reviewers who can provide knowledgeable, transparent, and constructive review in your field. critical review in your field. Author(s) should furnish reviewer Name, Designation, Department, Organization name and address, field of expertise, and official email id. However, the final decision for the selection of reviewer will be taken by the editor-in-chief in consultation with associate editors and expert board members.

12.Copyright

After acceptance author and co-authors should submit filled and signed copyright form to the editorial office. Author(s) also can submit scanned copyright form (filled and signed) to editorial email (editor@ijmsci.org)

13.Privacy Statement

The personal information used on this website is to be used exclusively for the stated purposes of each particular journal. It will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

14.Indexing

The decision to add an article to an indexing and abstracting database is solely made by the indexing authority, not the International Journal of Medical Science (IJMSCI). The journal can't intervene the judgement like accepted or rejected for inclusion in the said database. Furthermore, the IJMSCI can't guide the required processing time of an article for inclusion in the indexing and abstracting database.

15.Correction Policy

After publication, any type of correction request from author(s) will be assessed by the editorial team headed by editor-in-chief. Editors will measure the level of corrections, whether it’s a minor correction or a major correction. For major changes, editor-in-chief, associated editors and reviewers will be consulted for the decision. However, in all aforesaid cases, journal may charge necessary fee to amend correction in published work.

16. Retraction Policy

Retractions of article may occur when there is clear evidence of ethical violation, misconduct and unlawful findings. The decision is taken by the Editor-in-chief in consultation with editors and associated reviewers. Retraction takes place if:

- The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper referencing, permission or justification.

- If the work is plagiarized

- If the work reports unethical research

- legal infringement

In aforesaid cases, journal may issue a notice to author(s) and communicate the same to their Institution/ Organization. Finally, the journal has authority to suspend all authors from publication for three to five years.

However, if author(s) requests for retraction then author(s) should submit justified and lawful reason for the retraction. The request may be approved or rejected based on editorial decision. However, journal can charge author(s) for retraction of published article.

17. Refund Policy

After acceptance or production process, there is no refund policy from the journal side.

18. Jurisdiction

Any legal matters or disputes related to publication shall fall under the jurisdiction of Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
